CLIMATE

Château Cana stands proudly at an elevation of 900 meters above sea level, offering a unique terroir shaped by its variable climate. Each vintage presents a distinct character, reflecting the nuances of the valley's weather patterns. The winter brings a mix of mildness and occasional cold spells, followed by a warm yet often foggy spring. As summer arrives, humidity prevails until mid-July, after which a drier period ensues. August introduces greater temperature contrasts between day and night, hastening grape ripening while maintaining aromatic freshness. The onset of autumn typically brings sunny days coupled with cooler temperatures, completing the cycle of the vineyard's seasonal rhythm.

VINEYARD

The vineyard boasts a carefully curated blend, with Cabernet Sauvignon comprising 60%, Sabbaghieh 30%, and Chardonnay 10% of its plantings. Cabernet Sauvignon thrives in the vineyard's gravelly soil, yielding wines with intense color and robust tannic structure. Sabbaghieh, a local grape variety, imparts red fruit aromas of cherries, raspberries, and strawberries, while its potential for developing nuanced vegetal and "barnyard" notes adds complexity to the blend. Chardonnay, meanwhile, serves as a balancing force, tempering the boldness of the dominant Cabernet Sauvignon, resulting in a harmonious and layered final product.

GEOLOGY

Château Cana's vineyards predominantly sprawl across gravely hilltops. The vines are planted on terraces to facilitate water drainage during heavy rainfall, thereby enhancing the flavor intensity in the grape. The fortunate combination of layers of gravel on the surface and clay subsoil result in the quality of vines, particularly developing deep root system. Furthermore, the underlying clay layers act as natural reservoirs, capturing water to sustain vines through dry spells, ensuring consistent growth and grape development year-round.
